A Vision for a Better Hanford
As your City Council member, I will prioritize what truly matters to our community. I believe in preserving our local charm while ensuring that Hanford evolves to meet the needs of its residents.
My platform is based on transparency, community collaboration, and practical solutions that align with the values of our hometown.
Public Safety & Homeless Crisis
Public safety is my top priority. We need to take a strong stance against crime while also working to support those experiencing homelessness through collaboration with multiple agencies. I fought hard to stop the poorly located 5-acre homeless shelter project and instead advocate for solutions that balance compassion and practicality without compromising the wellbeing of our businesses and residents.
- Tough on Crime: Prosecute criminals to the full extent of the law and make Hanford a city that values law and order.
- Smart Solutions for Homelessness: Work with community organizations to identify suitable locations for shelters and create sustainable programs for those in need.
Transparency & Public Involvement
I believe our government should operate openly, honestly, and inclusively. The current City Council often conducts meetings and votes at times that are inconvenient for working people, limiting public engagement.
- Change meeting times to accommodate more residents.
- Enable public comments before votes, ensuring that the voices of the community are heard.
- Explore grant opportunities and other funding sources before considering tax increases.
Youth Opportunities & Vocational Training
Our youth deserve access to more resources, activities, and job training. By creating more vocational training opportunities, we can help our young adults prepare for the workforce and support a prosperous future for Hanford.
- Advocate for partnerships with local schools, agencies, and businesses to develop youth programs and vocational training initiatives.
- Promote projects like the 180-acre facility partnership with COS, the City, and HUHS, which shows how collaboration can enhance educational and career opportunities.
Historic Downtown Preservation
Preserving our historic downtown is crucial to maintaining the character of Hanford. I strongly oppose projects like the Downtown Roundabout, which threaten the integrity of our community. Instead, I want to focus on revitalizing and promoting our historic landmarks.
- Complete Hidden Valley Park: Explore creative financing options to enhance this community asset, such as a pump track similar to Corcoran’s.
- Revitalize Hanford’s Jewels: Explore ways to breathe new life into sites like The Bastille and the Historic Courthouse.
Business Friendliness & Economic Growth
We need to make Hanford a business-friendly city that supports local entrepreneurs and attracts outside investments. Let’s bring more events downtown, promote shopping locally, and explore creating a multi-generational facility that serves both seniors and youth.
- Advocate for the return of a Visitor’s Agency to promote Hanford as a destination for visitors and outside revenue.
- Create more downtown events that showcase our unique culture and draw in tourists.
